How to save money shopping in college
Hi everyone! Hope you’re all having a good March so far. Since it’s about time for everyone to be doing their shopping for spring clothes, I thought I would write this post and share all of the ways that I save loads of money when I’m shopping.
Thrift shop
If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you probably know that I love thrift shopping. Not only can you get fashionable clothing for super cheap, but you can also get amazing vintage pieces that aren’t even in stores anymore. Thrift shopping is the best way to go in my opinion, and if you’re looking to amp up your spring wardrobe, check out your local thrift stores to see what cool things you can find for cheap.
Second hand apps
If I am looking for a specific shoe or piece of clothing, I ALWAYS look on Poshmark, Mercari, and Depop to see if I can find it there before I buy it for full price. For example, a couple summers ago I was just dying to get a specific pair of Birkenstocks, but they retailed for over $100! So, I got on Poshmark and looked up the pair that I wanted, and I found it for like $50 in new condition! If you’re looking for specific brands, shoes, or types of clothing, definitely check those apps before buying something full price!
See if the store has a student discount
Another good thing to do is to check if the store has a student discount. While you’re in school, you might as well milk the student discounts that stores have. So if you’re shopping at a particular store, just google it and see if they offer a student discount.
Use Ebates
I’m sure that you guys have already heard all about Ebates already because everyone uses it, but it is so awesome. How it works is you get on the Ebates website, you click whatever store you’re going to be shopping online at, and then you shop online like normal and Ebates will automatically apply coupons at checkout and give you cash back for your purchases! It’s super easy to use and can get you a lot of money back. I definitely recommend signing up if you’re someone who likes to shop online! You can sign up here.
Shop the clearance rack
I shamelessly head straight to the clearance rack as soon as I enter a store. It’s a good idea to see if they have any cute clothes on clearance before you look at the rest of the store.
Download the store’s apps for exclusive offers & coupons
A lot of stores offer exclusive offers and coupons only available on their mobile apps. So if you’re going to go shopping somewhere download the app and see what deals you can get from there!
I hope you liked this post and choose to use some of these tips!

The more ways to save money, the better! I haven’t tried to see if a store offers student discounts or downloading the apps for sweet discounts. I’m going to do those next time!
I agree! I love finding new ways to save money. There are never too many ways to save it!
