Self Care Ideas for Fall

It’s that time of the year when college students everywhere are pushing themselves to finish the semester off strong, and in turn are getting really stressed and burnt out. It’s so important to take care of yourself, but sometimes people forget, so I thought that some self care ideas were in order.

To me self care is as simple as being nice to yourself. It’s being gentle to yourself, and treating yourself like you would a friend. Self care is taking some time to do your favorite things. It’s basically doing anything that helps you stop for just a second and appreciate the beautiful, simple parts of life.

Here are some of the things that I’ve been doing for self care this fall. 🙂

Bake

Baking is honestly so relaxing. Recently I’ve been loving baking apple crisp and brownies. Also, you’ll almost certainly have leftovers (unless you’re like me and can eat an entire pan of brownies in one sitting), and if you do it’s basically like giving yourself a little present for later.

Go for a walk

Fall walks are so serene. You get to witness all of the trees exploding in color while the cool breeze caresses your face and the sun warms your back. Make a chill playlist on Spotify and just take some time to enjoy the beauty of the earth.

Snuggle up on the couch and watch some movies

This is the perfect opportunity to eat your leftover desserts that you baked! Get curled up on the couch with your softest blankies and watch your favorite holiday movies! Or whatever movies you want. I just suggested holiday movies because I am definitely one of those people who celebrates Christmas in November. No shame.

Knit/ crochet

If you don’t know how to knit or crochet—learn! It is so nice to sit on the couch and just be able to create warm, cozy things like socks and scarves. The process is honestly so peaceful and perfect for a self care day. Plus you can make Christmas presents for your friends and family which will also make you feel good.

Light some fall scented candles

Who doesn’t like fall scented candles? I constantly have either brownie pecan or pumpkin scents in my wax burner. They smell so yummy and they get me in a cozy fall mood.

Diy some fall decor

You could paint a picture of leaves, make a tassle garland, a yarn tapestry, preserve leaves and hang them from a stick… the possibilities are really endless.

Go thrifting for some cozy fall sweaters

Retail therapy am I right? I am seriously addicted to thrifting sweaters. There is no better feeling in the world to me than leaving a thrift store with new cute cozy sweaters and only having spent like $20. It’s my favorite thing to do for self care.

I hope that this post was helpful and that it gave you some ideas for self care. If you have anything that you like to do for self care during the fall that wasn’t on this list definitely let me know in the comments! 🙂
