Summer Reading List-2019

It’s summer time, and you know what summer time means? Exactly!! Lot’s of reading time! 🙂 I have indeed been using the much needed reading time, and of course I made a list of all of the books that I want to tackle this summer. I’ve already managed to read some of them, but there is still plenty of summertime left, and that means plenty of time for more books. 🙂

Here is my afore mentioned summer reading list.

Finale: A Caraval Novel

Finale was the first book I read this summer. It is the much anticipated lat installment of the Caraval series. It did NOT disappoint. I think I finished it in 3 days. The Caraval series is just so atmospheric. Like, it makes you feel as if you’re actually there. It completely sucked me in. If you’re in the market for a mesmerizing YA fantasy book, I definitely recommend this one. AND it’s on sale on Amazon right now, so it’s only $10. 🙂

Hush Hush series

I’m a little late to this party considering the last book came out 8 years ago, but I started reading this series in middle school and never finished it, so I decided to pick it back up and finally finish!

This series is honestly everything that I could’ve wished for in a YA dark romance fantasy series. Cute angsty fallen angels–I mean what more could I ask for?

The Luxe

I’ve had this book for a while, but have yet to read it. I decided I need to read books that I already have rather than buying a bunch more books to read with these still sitting unloved on my shelf, so I’m gonna read this after I finish the hush hush series. Here’s the blurb from Goodreads:

Pretty girls in pretty dresses, partying until dawn. Irresistible boys with mischievous smiles and dangerous intentions. White lies, dark secrets, and scandalous hookups. This is Manhattan, 1899. Beautiful sisters Elizabeth and Diana Holland rule Manhattan’s social scene. Or so it appears. When the girls discover their status among New York City’s elite is far from secure, suddenly everyone–from the backstabbing socialite Penelope Hayes, to the debonair bachelor Henry Schoonmaker, to the spiteful maid Lina Broud–threatens Elizabeth’s and Diana’s golden future. With the fate of the Hollands resting on her shoulders, Elizabeth must choose between family duty and true love. But when her carriage overturns near the East River, the girl whose glittering life lit up the city’s gossip pages is swallowed by the rough current. As all of New York grieves, some begin to wonder whether life at the top proved too much for this ethereal beauty, or if, perhaps, someone wanted to see Manhattan’s most celebrated daughter disappear… In a world of luxury and deception, where appearance matters above everything and breaking the social code means running the risk of being ostracized forever, five teenagers lead dangerously scandalous lives. This thrilling trip to the age of innocence is anything but innocent.

Really hoping that this is the dark upper class fantasy that I didn’t know I needed.

The Alchemyst: the Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel

I have heard very, very good things about this book. Goodreads blurb:

Nicholas Flamel was born in Paris on 28 September 1330. Nearly seven hundred years later, he is acknowledged as the greatest Alchemyst of his day. It is said that he discovered the secret of eternal life. The records show that he died in 1418. But his tomb is empty and Nicholas Flamel lives. The secret of eternal life is hidden within the book he protects – the Book of Abraham the Mage. It’s the most powerful book that has ever existed. In the wrong hands, it will destroy the world. And that’s exactly what Dr. John Dee plans to do when he steals it. Humankind won’t know what’s happening until it’s too late. And if the prophecy is right, Sophie and Josh Newman are the only ones with the power to save the world as we know it. Sometimes legends are true. And Sophie and Josh Newman are about to find themselves in the middle of the greatest legend of all time.

Based off that, it sounds really good and adventurous. I have high hopes!!

All right, folks! That’s it for my summer reading list! I am very impulsive when it comes to reading books, so if anything changes, I will update this list as the summer goes on. 🙂

Thanks for reading! See you next time.
