Thanksgiving in KC Part 1: What I did during a week in Kansas City, Missouri

Over Thanksgiving break I took a trip to Kansas City to visit my pals Sarah and Maggie. Here’s what I did while there! This post will be divided into 2 parts because it would be way too long as just one.

Day 1:

Maggie’s Bday

I made the 6ish hour drive to KC from Norman on Sunday night, and made it for a bit of my friend Maggie’s birthday celebration! I didn’t get any pictures with them, but their face is on the party hat in these pictures LOL. It was a fun night with fun friends! Me and Dobby were a little tired from the drive though, so we mostly hung out in this chair the whole time.

Day 2

Coffee at Made in KC

The first thing we did on the second day I was there was go get coffee at Sarah and Maggie’s work, a coffee shop/ boutique called Made in KC. It’s a charming little space and it was really cool to see where they spend a lot of their time!

Sarah made us some drinkys and made Dobby a puppacino.

Look how happy Dobby was about his puppacino omg. So cute.

Dinner at Atomic Cowboy

After we got back from Made in KC we hung out and me and Maggie ended up falling asleep lol, but after that we got up and went to get dinner at Atomic Cowboy. It’s a bar/ restaurant and the food was really good! Maggie and Sarah got pizza and I got a really good impossible burger. The best part was the waffle fries though. They were SO good. We took voice recordings talking about what we did each day so I wouldn’t forget by the time I wrote this post and when we start talking about Atomic Cowboy all three of us were just praising the fries.

This is what the recording sounds like:

Maggie: “We ate really good pizza and a really good impossible burger–” Sarah: “And fries” Me & Maggie simultaneously “and fries!!” Maggie: “those fries were–those waffle fries?” Me: “To die for. With chipotle ranch.”

It was so funny listening back to this section of the recording. I’d forgotten how much we all loved those fries lol.

After we ate dinner we played pool for a little while, which was so much fun.

Here I am about to artfully, skillfully, and gracefully hit the 8 ball in and lose me and Sarah the game. 🙂 Doesn’t the neon cowgirl sign in the back look so cool though?!

After that we went home and played Mario Party for a little bit (which I didn’t get any pictures of) and then we went to bed!

Day 3

Morning Walkie

On the third day we started out with a morning walk (which we actually did everyday bc Dobby, Sarah just happened to take pictures this time). Maggie’s apartment has a lovely little river walk in front of it, so the walks were really pretty and scenic.

After this I spent some time lovingly admiring Dobby before we left him by his lonesome to nap in the apartment and went about our day.

Coffee at Messenger

Our first stop was Messenger Coffee Co. It is a 3 story coffee house, and according to Maggie’s words in the voice memo, “is like the mecca of coffee in Kansas City.” On the first level they have a bakery where they make all of their pastries and bread, the second level is where they roast coffee beans, and then the third level is a rooftop where you can sit and look down at the city.

Here we are enjoying our breakfast there! I got a vanilla latte and pumpkin bread, it was yummy. I really enjoyed people watching while we were there, there were so many interesting and beautiful people going in and out.

Here Sarah and I are on the rooftop!

Buffalo Exchange

When we were done at Messenger, we did a little bit of shopping. We started out at Buffalo Exchange.

After we left Buffalo Exchange, we walked to some other shops. In this picture Maggie and I were talking about some film concept, but I can’t remember exactly what it was.

Wonderland

Our next stop was a charming little vintage clothing shop. They had so many pretty and cool things! We also went to Arizona Trading Co, but I didn’t get any pictures there.

Endless Dobby Snuggle Time

The recording saying what we did this day stops after we say we got back to see Dobby, but I did find these pictures in my camera roll when I was trying to figure out what we did for the rest of the night. These pictures were taken over a span of 6 hours, and I don’t remember if I simply snuggled Dobby without moving for 6 hours or what. I think we may have watched Disney movies this night, but who’s to say?

Thats it for the first half of my time in Kansas City!
