Where I’ve Been
Hi everyone! So, you might have noticed that I’ve been sort of m.i.a for the past month and a half. A lot of things have happened recently that have kept me from blogging, and I just want to write a post about what has been going on in my life! So, for those of you who are wondering where I’ve been, keep reading!
Like I said, a lot of things have happened in the last month, but there is one big thing that has kept me from blogging. Before I get to that though, I want to talk about some of the exciting things that I’ve done!
1. I went home from visiting my mom’s house
This summer, I went and stayed with my mom in Indiana for a little over a month. I live in Oklahoma with my dad, so I don’t get to see my mom very often. It was really nice to get to spend some time with her and my brother before I left for college! So I spent a little time away from blogging in order to spend quality time with them before I had to leave!
2. I went on vacation
At the end of July, I went on a trip to Galveston, Texas with my best friend Hima and a couple of her friends. It was super fun! We boogie boarded, took pictures at the beach, went and ate at the Rainforest Cafe, and did lots of other cool stuff. I got terribly sunburnt, though (as you can see in the picture), and it was suffocatingly hot there. We only stayed for 3 days, but other than me turning into a lobster, it was a really good trip! Even though it was nice, by the end of the trip I was excited to get home to see my dog and my sister. My friends and I made it back to Oklahoma, and I stayed the night at a friends house. The next morning I woke up to drive home and then…
3. I got in a car accident
This is the main reason that I haven’t been blogging. After I got back to Oklahoma from the beach, before I went home, I went to my friend Lauren’s birthday party and then I stayed the night at her house. The next morning I got up to go home, and I had been on the highway for literally only 5 minutes, and then the accident happened. I was in the right lane about to exit, and the highway was super busy. The merging lane was really backed up, so I slowed down to let a car merge. Traffic was basically stopped, so I was going about 5 mph at this point. The guy in the truck behind me wasn’t paying much attention, so he hit me going about 60 mph. The collision caused me to hit my head pretty hard on my steering wheel, and my back tire popped which caused my car to spin the opposite way of what the traffic was going.
The people in the other car were both okay, thank goodness. I ended up having to go to the emergency room because of my head and some other minor injuries. My friend Sarah was an angel and came and picked me up and took me. <3 They ended up just sending me home in a sling and prescribed a bunch of pain medication. It’s only been a month since the accident, and for about two weeks after I was taking the pain medication which made me pretty loopy and disoriented. Since then, I’ve been dealing with the after effects of my head injury. I get dizzy and confused really easily, even just sitting here writing this blog post is making me dizzy. Other than that, though, I’m okay!
Needless to say, it was a really traumatic experience for me, and I just haven’t been well enough to blog. 🙁
4. I got a new car
Because my old car was totaled, I needed to get a new car. I loved my old car so much, but sometimes change is good. My new (used) car is really nice, and I like it a lot. I haven’t really driven it much since the accident; I am pretty terrified to drive now. I’m very thankful that I have it, though!
5. I started college
Here are some pictures of my dorm 🙂
Woohoo! I’ve been at school for two weeks now, and I love it. It’s been a little overwhelming because I get disoriented so easily because of my head injury, but so far it’s been fun. Going to college is a huge life change, and I’ve been trying to adapt and get comfortable here, so that is another reason I haven’t been blogging. I’m going home for the first time this weekend (I live 4 hours away from home now). I’m super happy because I will get to see my puppy!
I am going to try to blog more often, but my mental health is my main priority right now, so I’m not sure how often I will be able to. Hopefully it won’t take too long for me to feel good enough to get back on the blogging grind! Thank you all for your patience and your continued support of Ryality 🙂
xoxo, Ryan
