Why I decided to major in Entrepreneurship

If you’re anything like me, you’re indecisive af and have changed your major multiple times. Here is the story of why I *finally* decided to major in Entrepreneurship, and why I know that I *finally* chose the right major for me.

Settle in, get some hot cocoa and get cozy, because its story time.

When I was in high school, I would always ponder what I would major in once I got to college. I considered a great many options: Chemistry, Journalism, Biology, Psychology, English, Art–you name it, and I probably considered majoring in it.

There was no subject in school that I particularly disliked–I just loved learning.

However, I realized that I would have to settle on just one subject to major in when I got to college, despite my never-ending list of interests. So, I settled on Chemistry because I loved my high school Chemistry class SO much (mostly because I had an awesome teacher–shout out to Mrs. McCrary<3).

That didn’t last long though…

When my second semester of college came around, I decided I wanted to major in Psychology. Shortly after (much to my advisors dismay), I was like ehh, I don’t really want to be in school for 12 years to get the job that I want in this field.

Don’t get me wrong, I loved psychology (I still do), it just wasn’t what I wanted to be pursuing for the rest of my life.

So, I again began to ponder.

Now, I started this blog my senior year of high school. I really wanted it to do well, so I tirelessly researched and studied ways to run a successful website. I watched more videos and read more articles than I could even count.

But I was enjoying it.

I was more passionate about running my blog that than I had been about anything else in my life.

I didn’t realize it at the time, but what I loved about it was the fact that I was running my own tiny business. A business where I had complete creative freedom. I could run it however I wanted, and I wasn’t limited to writing about just one of my interests. But the best part about it was that it helped people.

(psst if you’re interested in starting a blog I have a step by step tutorial here <3 )

So, that’s why I decided to major in Entrepreneurship after my second semester of college. So that I can combine all of my interests and come up with new, innovative ways to help people/ animals/ the earth/ just the world in general.

I never really felt like I was on the right path with my other two majors, but now I know for sure that I’m doing what I’m meant to be doing.

Like, I’m so happy with my major now that I’m constantly wondering “why doesn’t everyone just major in Entrepreneurship? It’s so perfect.”

I think this path is perfect for anyone who:

  1. Cringes at the idea of having to do ONE thing for the rest of their lives & who also has an interest in business
  2. Is imaginative and never stops coming up with new ideas
  3. Wants to be their own boss and screams internally at the idea of working for someone else for the rest of their lives

Like I said, I’m really really happy with my decision. My classes are so interesting to me, and I feel so motivated knowing that I’m on the right path.

If you’re considering this major, I hope this post helps you in making your decision!
