Life Updates: Moving and my first two weeks at the University of Oklahoma

I decided to just pop in and give you guys some life updates and talk about how my first 2 weeks of school have gone!

Life updates

I don’t remember if I’ve mentioned it on here yet that I decided to transfer schools. If I haven’t…surprise! I was going to school at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, Missouri, but this summer I decided to transfer to the University of Oklahoma.

Why I decided to transfer

I had some health problems during my first year of college due to me getting in a car accident right before school started (if you wanna know more I wrote a post all about it here.) Joplin is 4 hours from my hometown, and it ended up being way too hard for me to get to all of my doctors appointments and deal with things when I was all alone so far from home. So, I decided to transfer.

I moved to Norman

I moved into my new apartment August 11th, and it’s been a whirlwind since then. I’ve been decorating my apartment (apartment tour coming soon!), applying for jobs, and going to school. I LOVE Norman so far, though.

I’m from a minuscule town in northwest Oklahoma–there is hardly anything there. So, moving to an area that has so much going on has been a really nice change! I like the charm of my hometown, but I think I prefer a more urban setting.

My first 2 weeks at the University of Oklahoma!!!

I love OU so much already! The campus is so beautiful, the classes are awesome, and I’ve already made some friends. 🙂 So far, there are only two things about it that I don’t like:

  1. The bike riders WILL run you over without a second thought if you’re in their way. They’re ruthless.
  2. Some of the buildings are so crowded! It’s really hard for a tiny 5’0 girl like me to not get elbowed in the face and shoved around while just trying to get to class. :/

Clubs I’m considering joining

At my last school I was involved in the Honors program, but that’s it. I really like to keep myself busy and involved, so here are the clubs that I’m considering joining on campus (as of right now).

  • Delta Sigma Pi- Dsp is a professional business co-ed fraternity. I think it’d be a really awesome way for me to learn the ropes when it comes to the business world. I’m really excited about it! I have to interview to get in, so I’m kind of nervous. Hopefully it will go well!
  • U sing- This one is an acapella group that does musicals on campus. My sister told me about it and it sounds fun.

Other life updates

Netflix updates

  • I started watching Meteor Garden on Netflix. I feel like it’s taking over my life, in the best way. It’s SO good. It’s been a really long time since I’ve been this emotionally invested in a show.

Reading updates

  • Currently reading the Throne of Glass series. I’m on book 3 right now. The series was a part of my summer reading list. I’m not completely sure if I’m going to be able to finish it before the official end of summer (September 22), but I’m definitely going to try!

Dobby updates

  • My puppy, Dobby, really likes Norman, too. He especially loves our morning and evening walkies and having a nice fluffy rug to snuggle up in. I feel like this update was absolutely necessary.

My freaking camera lens broke

I dropped my camera and the part of my lens that latches onto the actual camera broke. So that sucks. Be prepared for some very mediocre blog photos in the near future, because I can’t afford to buy another lens!!! The joys of being in college.

I think that those are all of the life updates I have for this post! If you got this far, you must be my grandma. She’s probably the only one who is going to read this far. 🙂

ANYWHO I’m going to stop blabbing now and watch Meteor Garden and eat vegetarian chili.
